Prince William releases video message to mark National #StandUpToBullying Day – WATCH
Fresh off making history on the cover of Attitude’s July Issue – available to download now and in shops now – Prince William has released a video message to mark the UK’s first ever National #StandUpToBullying Day, reminding people that bullying is an issue that can affect “any one of us, regardless of age, background, gender, sexuality, race, disability or religion.”
“For young people in particular, bullying can have a profoundly damaging and long-lasting effect,” the Duke of Cambridge says.
“To shatter their trust in relationships and faith in the world around them at such a young age can have a profound impact on their mental health and state of mind.”
The 34-year-old continues: “Research shows that victims of bullying can become more susceptible to depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts, and experience difficulties in maintaining healthy relationships.
“This cannot be allowed to continue… We all have a role to play, to ensure that we do not stand by, but instead stand up to put a stop to bullying.”
The #StandUpToBullying campaign was established in honour of The Diana Award, a charity founded on the legacy of Prince William’s mother.
