A uniquely customised gay-themed Sony Playstation 4 is being auctioned off for charity.

The games console – decorated with the LGBT rainbow and a pixellated love heart – is being sold by Swedish retailer Webhallen to celebrate the Stockholm Pride Festival, which kicks off today (July 28) in the Swedish capital and lasts all week.

The highest bid for the Gaystation is currently 17,000 Swedish Krona, which is nearly £1500. Bidding ends on Sunday (August 3), and all money raised from the auction will be donated to the Swedish Federation for LGBT Rights.

Describing the Gaystation, Webhallen said: “For many young people, the game world will become a refuge to escape the taunts, or worse, in real life. On Webhallen we – gamers in heart and mind – are keen that as many as possible have the opportunity to feel welcome and enjoy the world’s largest and fastest growing interest: TV & computer games.”

Meanwhile, Final Fantasy XIV gamers have held a virtual Pride parade to celebrate the game’s recent inclusion of same-sex relationships and marriage – click here to watch scenes from the virtual parade.
