Richard Buckley, husband of Tom Ford, dies aged 72
The pair met in an elevator in 1986, which Ford has described as "love at first sight".

Richard Buckley, journalist and husband of fashion designer Tom Ford, has died after a long illness, according to representatives for the fashion designer.
Buckley, a renowned fashion journalist and editor, was married to Ford for more than 30 years died aged 72.
In a statement given to People magazine, representatives for Ford said Buckley had died “of natural causes after a long illness,” on Sunday (19 September) night.
“Richard passed away peacefully”
The statement began by saying: “It is with great sadness that Tom Ford announces the death of his beloved husband of 35 years, Richard Buckley.
“Richard passed away peacefully at their home in Los Angeles with Tom and their son Jack by his side,” it continued.
The pair met at a fashion show in 1986 and got married in 2014.
People reports that Buckley’s career began at New York Magazine before he would go on to write for Women’s Wear Daily and Vanity Fair. He also worked with Mirabella magazine as well as Italian Vogue and Vogue Hommes International.
In a 2016 interview with People, Ford remembered the moment the two met in an elevator saying, “Our eyes locked and within a month we were living together. We have been together ever since.
“By the time that elevator landed on the ground floor, I thought, ‘You’re the one.’ That’s it. Click. Sold. It was literally love at first sight.”
