‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ makes history with first trans Pit Crew member
Fans of the show spotted former Attitude cover star and model Laith Ashley amongst the Pit Crew
RuPaul’s Drag Race has made history for featuring its first trans Pit Crew member.
The Pit Crew members are models that appear in the show, and the latest episode featured trans male model and former Attitude cover star Laith Ashley.
Ashley appeared on Thursday’s episode (May 17) during the ‘Pants Down Bottoms Up’ challenge, which saw contestants match up the underwear of the male models.
Fans of the show spotted the former Attitude cover star who has become a prominent model, appearing in campaigns for Diesel and Barney’s.
In 2016 Ashley also appeared on the reality televisions series Strut, which followed members of the world’s first transgender modelling agency.
Shortly after the show, Ashley shared a video on Twitter thanking fans for their support.
He said: “I just needed to say thank you for all the comments I’ve been getting for my appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race. I’m overwhelmed. A big thank you to RuPaul and World of Wonder.”
