‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ to air on Channel 5 later this year?
By Will Stroude
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK could be coming to Channel 5 in September, sources say.
Last year it was reported that Ross had bought the rights to develop a UK version of the drag-themed reality show – and was lining up British drag star Jodie Harsh to present it.
Now sources say a deal has been signed which would see a 14-week series air in the Autumn, with the new format seeing Jonathan Ross play host to judges Rupaul, Michelle Visage, Jodie Harsh and UK Drag Legend Paul O’Grady, according to the RuPaul’s Drag Race Family Facebook page.
Ross previously said of his plans: “I’ve been working with Jodie on a UK version [of the show]… Unfortunately we have had to take a break because of some family issues. But we’re hoping to pick it up again in the near future.”
Referencing one of the show’s iconic catchphrases, the 54-year-old added: “I am definitely serving ‘middle-aged realness’!”
RuPaul has already thrown his support behind a UK version of the show, telling fellow judge Michelle Visage last year: “Let’s do it! I’m ready for it” – find out more here.
