Sam Smith wants to open a ‘gay bar in the city near where I grew up’
Star also shares that they want 'two kids' in new interview
For many, that first night out in a regional gay bar with sticky floors is a rite of passage and cherished memory.
And it’s one Sam Smith would like to preserve for future generations.
In fact the star has gone as far as to say they want to open their own space near where they grew up in Cambridgeshire.
The ‘Diamonds’ singer added that they want to call the venue ‘Crunchy’ in tribute to the shot-stained LGBTQ+ bars worldwide. Inspired!

“It would be cool to open up a gay club,” Sam said in a recent interview with Amazon Music.
“I think I would open up a gay bar in the city near where I grew up in Cambridge, as there are no gay bars.
“I’d open it and call it ‘Crunchy’. The best clubs are crunchy clubs where your feet stick to the floor because of all the shots that have been spilled.”
Sam’s comments follow exciting news of a new LGBTQ+ bar named ARCH opening in London’s Clapham next week.
That said, these are hard times for established queer spaces, with iconic bars like Admiral Duncan currently at risk of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I like giving kids back when you look after them”
In the interview, 28-year-old Sam also opened up about their dreams of becoming a parent, saying: “I’d like two kids, if I want any.
“I like giving them back when you look after them. They’re wonderful but it is nice to be like ‘bye!'”
The non-binary star recently released their third studio album ‘Love Goes’, which reached number two on the UK albums charts and number five on the US albums charts.
