Sam Strike announces ‘Eastenders’ departure

Sam Strike has announced that he is leaving EastEnders.
The 20-year-old actor , who joined the long-running BBC soap in December 2013, will be leaving his role as gay character Johnny Carter in an upcoming storyline, the details of which are being kept under wraps.
Strike was at the centre of an emotional storyline earlier this year (January), when his character out to his father Mick (Danny Dyer), while last December, a kiss between Johnny and Gary Lucy’s character, Danny Pennant, received two complaints from viewers.
Strike took to Twitter today (November 14) to confirm his departure, saying:
Thanks for all the love this year guys. Means the world. Decided to bow out. couldn’t have done it without you all . thanks @bbceastenders.

Although BBC bosses are refusing to comment on the details surrounding his character’s exit from Albert Square, it’s been confirmed that Strike has already completed filming his final scenes, according to Radio Times.
Strike attended the Attitude Awards in London last month (October) as he and Danny Dyer accepted the Media Recognition Award for Johnny’s coming out storyline – watch the pair accept the prize here.
