Sir Elton John says he is ‘ashamed’ of the UK and hit back at ‘idiots’ who voted for Brexit.
The openly gay music legend – who is currently touring the world of his farewell tour – was performing at Verona when he hit back at ‘stupid, colonial English idiots’ after the shambolic Brexit ordeal.
Just before performing his 1995 song ‘Believe’, he said: “I am sick to death of politicians, especially British politicians.
“I am sick to death of Brexit. I am a European. I am not a stupid, colonial, imperialist English idiot.
“I’m ashamed of my country for what it has done. It’s torn people apart.”
John’s rise to fame is currently being brought to cinemas worldwide in the new musical biopic Rocketman – starring Taron Egerton – and the film has received international praise.
