Stephen Fry is to play the Prime Minister in the new season of 24.

According to Deadline, he has landed a “high-profile recurring role” in 24: Live Another Day, the forthcoming 12-episode run of the popular US drama that will return Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer to our screens for the first time since 2010.

Fry’s Prime Minister will be called Trevor Davies and is said to be a “strong and charismatic leader” who has a close bond with the US president. 24: Live Another Day will begin with Sutherland’s Jack Bauer on the run in London.

24: Live Another Day is set to premiere on US network Fox this May and the UK broadcasting rights have been picked up by Sky 1. Alongside Fry, Tate Donovan, Judy Davis and Kim Raver have all signed up for key supporting roles.

The multi-talented Fry previously took on a recurring role in another popular US series, Bones, for several episodes between 2007 and 2009.
