Stripped-back version of ‘Under Pressure’ captures David Bowie & Freddie Mercury’s genius
As tributes continue to flood in for David Bowie, a stripped back a cappella version of his iconic collaboration with Freddie Mercury really captures a sense of the talent that has now tragically been lost.
Recorded in 1981, ‘Under Pressure’ featured on Queen’s 1982 studio album Hot Space, and was Queen’s second track to reach number one in the British charts after ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
It was also Bowie’s third number-one in the UK after ‘Space Oddity’ and ‘Ashes to Ashes‘.
As an apt follow up to Mercury’s stripped back version of ‘We Are The Champions’, the track really shows off the vocal chops of both singers.
We can only now hope that Bowie and Mercury are now jamming together up in the heavens.
