Survey asking if ‘queers’ should use toilets with ‘normal people’ spread by students in US school

A school is investigating a homophobic survey posted around Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in Illinois in the United States.
The survey, as seen in images posted online, asks students if they are happy for “QUEERS” to use the same bathroom as “normal people”.
The school’s superintendent, Rob Wright, has confirmed that the letter was brought to his attention on Wednesday 20 October.

As reported by WPSD Local, Wright said: “We began investigating. We’re still investigating. At this point in time, I really can’t give any information regarding any individuals or discipline measures.
“But, I can tell you that this type of harassment is taken very seriously and will not be tolerated. And once the investigation is complete, the appropriate discipline will take place where warranted.”
In the letter, a group calling themselves the ‘Anti-Queer Association’ wrote: “This document is represented by the students of AJCHS. This is about all the QUEER kids in this school.
“This is a vote for all the students of AJCHS, this is not public you do not have to put your name on it or anything like that all we need is a check YES or NO. This is an anonymous vote. VOTE WISELY!!!”
In capital letters, it repeats: “NO NAME JUST CHECK YES OR NO!!!!!!” before offering two options: “(YES) I WANT QUEERS TO GO IN THE BATHROOM,” and “(NO) I DON’T WANT QUEER KIDS TO GO TO THE BATHROOM WITH US NORMAL PEOPLE.”
Michael Coleman, one of the board of directors for the Rainbow Cafe LGBTQ Center in Carbondale, Illinois, told WPSD that local students have reached out to the centre about the survey.
Coleman said: “They [the students] really feel very unsafe in that environment in Anna-Jonesboro and that they felt that nothing was going to get done.”
