Swedish American Football star comes out as gay

Marcus Juhlin, a well-known American Football player in Sweden, has come out as gay.

Juhlin speaks openly about his sexuality in QX, the biggest LGBT magazine in Sweden, and appears on the cover of the latest issue (see right).

Juhlin is the first American Football player in Sweden to come out and, QX reports, “the reaction from his team mates and from the other teams in the league has been amazing”.

QX adds that Juhlin’s Facebook page “was full of love from all kinds of people” after news of his coming out was widely reported within the Swedish media.

Marcus Juhlin, 22, is single and plays for the Carlstad Crusaders American Football team. In the interview, he explains that he came out not just for himself – but for other boys and girls out there who feel as though they do not fit in.

Juhlin also says that he hopes his coming out can help and inspire other people who are also struggling to get to grips with their sexuality.
