A teacher has been arrested after allegedly using Grindr to get a lap-dance from minor.
Richard Ives, who teaches at Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School in Missouri, was pulled over by police during a routine traffic stop when they noticed an underage boy in his car, Kansas City Star reported.
Ives admitted to paying the boy for a lap-dance when officers found two $20 bills in his pockets.
The teacher allegedly took the boy – who is around 14 – to a commuter car park after picking him up on a street corner.
When officers found him, the boy was incoherent but told police Ives had paid him $200 to meet with him.
Ives has now been placed on leave from his job until the investigation has been completed.
Lisa Lyle, the school’s head, revealed the boy isn’t a student at Ives’ school and said: “Mr Ives has been placed on leave from his job as Camp Director and as Art Teacher; he will not be allowed back on campus during the pendency of any charges and until an investigation has been completed.
“We are in communication with law enforcement and continue to gather facts.”
Ives has been charged with enticement of a child, patronising prostitution 14 years of age and younger, sexual misconduct of a child under 14 and second-degree statutory sodomy.
He is out on a bond of $50,000, which he has posted, and officials say he met the boy through Grindr before enticing him to meet.
