A teenager has been charged with smashing the front window and neon sign of the Stonewall Inn in New York City.
William Gomez, 19, allegedly destroyed the gay bar with a baseball bat on Saturday (July 7) after he was kicked out, according to the New York Post.
Gomez caused around $6,800 worth of the damage to the building – which is regarded as the birthplace of the gay liberation movement.
Now he has been charged with criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
However, it is not being treated as a hate crime. Both the window and the sign have reportedly been repaired.
