Teen Wolf star Colton Haynes has revealed his mother has passed away.
The 29-year-old actor shared the news on Instagram on Friday night (March 23), revealing that his mother Dana had died after struggling with health issues, People reports.
In an emotional post paying tribute to his mother, Haynes described her as his “best friend”.
Sharing a series of images, he wrote: “Today I lost my best friend, the love of my life… my momma.
“Words can’t express how incredible this woman was. I have so many things to say but I’m in a state of shock. I will always love you momma. RIP my angel.”
In February, Haynes had revealed that his mother had been diagnosed with advanced cirrhosis of the liver and was in kidney failure after being “in and out of hospital” since January.
The actor stated that his mother could have been cured with a liver transplant, but didn’t have time to wait for one. Doctors, meanwhile, had suggested her family focus on her quality of life, not quantity.
Haynes’ husband Jeff Leatham also paid tribute to Dana on Instagram by sharing a video featuring the mother and son dancing.
Alongside the video, Leatham wrote: “My beautiful mother-in-law is now dancing with angels as beautiful as she is. Her fun spirit and lust for life was so inspiring.
“Dance away beautiful Dana, dance away, but know you are so loved and will be missed everyday as we celebrate your life. Thank you for the gift of beautiful Colton and his brother and sisters. I love you.”
Friends and fans of the actor also sent their condolences over social media.
