Teenage girl suffers head injuries after being assaulted by seven men during alleged homophobic attack in Russia

A teenage girl has suffered severe physical injuries after she was assaulted by seven men during an alleged homophobic attack in St Petersburg.
Ekaterina Lyskh, 18, and her girlfriend Alina were walking through the streets of the Russian city with some of their friends when a group of seven men followed them and started shouting homophobic slurs towards Ekaterina.
After they fled to a nearby café, Alina tried to alert security and one of their friends was hit across the face.
Alina told the Paper: “They came too close, asking what was in our pockets.
“We tried to move on, but the men blocked our moves. As a results, we still managed to run into some kind of coffee shop.
“I tried to call the guard but did not have time.”
Ekaterina reportedly ran after the men to find out why they were harassing them but she suffered multiple blows to the face and head.
She was taken to hospital with a concussion and needed stitches to the side of her mouth.
The men fled the scene and have yet to be detained by the police.
