Dr Phil McGraw has hit back at Donald Trump’s plan to eradicate transgender people.
The Trump administration revealed that they are looking to legally abolish transgender people on a federal level by redefining gender as a “biological, immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth”.
According to a memo acquired by the New York Times, Trump’s Department of Health and Human Service has proposed to define gender under Title IX, the federal civil rights law that bans discrimination on the basis of gender in educational institutions.
The proposed definition would define sex as either male or female, unchangeable and determined by the genitals that a person is born with and any dispute about someone’s sex would have to be clarified with genetic testing.
Now, the TV psychologist – who hosts the long-running talk show Dr Phil – has told the president to ‘kiss my ass’.
He told Stephen Colbert of The Late Show: “Well, good luck with that. That is the absolute height of arrogance… if you think you can just define something out of existence where does that come from?
“You think just, ‘I’m gonna change the word, I’m gonna take that out of the dictionary’ and these people cease to exist?
“Kiss my ass, you can’t do that! Really? I’m just gonna cross that word out of my vocabulary and this entire part of the world stops existing?”
