A new survey has revealed the average age that gay men lose their virginity – and the result may surprise you.
Online health service dred.com asked 1000 people of all ages, genders, and sexualities about their sexual history, and discovered that the average age of losing your virginity among gay people was 17.9 years old.
The survey indicated that straight people lose their viriginity slightly earlier, with the average age reported as 17.6 years old.
While gay people took a little longer to pop their cherry on average, the survey actually found that their ‘sexual awakening’ happened at an earlier age on average compared to straight people.
Defined as the “sudden realisation of sexual feelings and urges”, Dred discovered the average age for a gay people to undergo their sexual awakening was 13.8 years old, compared to 15 years old for straight people.
The survey also found a large discrepency between the generations when it comes to the sexuality question.
While 46 percent of millennials (born post-1980) believed dsexuality existed on a spectrum, only 11 percent of Generation Xers (born around 1960s-80) and 5 percent of Baby Boomers (born post-WWII) agreed.
