This just in: Masturbating more could stop you from dying prematurely
A study published in the European Urology
has revealed that masturbation may in fact have several important health benefits.
The study followed 30,000 men over the course of 20 years and found that men who ejaculated more often had lower chances of being diagnosed with prostate cancer than those who would masturbate less.
The study also found that men who masturbated more often when they were young would generally be healthier in their later life.
The Huffington Post reports that men who ejaculated at least 21 times a month in their 20’s were 19% less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than men who ejaculated about seven times a month.
Men in their 40s who masturbate regularly are 22% less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The lead study author, Jennifer Rider, said, “Ejaculation frequency is, to some extent, a measure of overall health status in that men at the very low end of ejaculation – 0 to 3 times per month – were more likely to have other (medical problems) and die prematurely from causes other than prostate cancer.”
Rider says their study suggests that “ejaculation and safe sexual activity throughout adulthood could be a beneficial strategy for reducing the risk of prostate cancer.”
According to Cancer Research, prostate cancer is currently the second most common cancer in the UK and 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
