This Morning’s

Denise Robertson has lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 83.

The ITV daytime chat show confirmed the loss of its beloved agony aunt on Twitter this morning (April 1).

“Such sad news – our friend and colleague Denise Robertson has lost her short but determined battle against cancer,” a statement read.

Robertson’s diagnosis was originally revealed in an on-air statement read out on the show in February.

Having been a regular fixture of ITV This Morning since it premiered in 1988, Robertson had been working on the show for 27 years, gaining popularity for sharing her thoughts with viewers as an agony aunt. She was also a regular on Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, and had a website where she would offer further advice.

Robertson often brought gay issues to the forefront in daytime television, and in October 2014, offered advice to viewers on the struggles of coming out.

This Morning celebrated her work and achievements today, and featured messages of condolences from her colleagues and viewers – while presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have already paid tribute to their late colleague on social media.
