Timmy Matley has sadly died at the age of 36.
The singer was one-fifth of The Overtones – which included Lachie Chapman, Darren Everest, Mark Franks and Mike Crawshaw – and one of the three openly gay members but sadly the band have released a statement revealing the passing of the singer.
In a statement on Twitter the group wrote: “It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away.
“We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us.
“We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time. Mike, Darren, Mark & Lachie x [sic]”

Although the cause of death was not announced, Timmy has been battling skin cancer after being diagnosed with a stage three malignant melanoma back in 2016.
Timmy was best known for singing the high notes in the vocal harmony group and he was set to complete a skydive next month to raise money for the hospital where he was receiving treatment, The Royal Marsden in London.
In 2015, Timmy – along with Lachie and Mark, who are both openly gay as well – were part of Attitude’s Hot 100 issue, and in the interview he spoke about what he finds sexy.
He said at the time: “To me, it’s a quiet confidence.
“Not a cocky, loud person who’s letting everyone know they are in the room.”
In the same interview, he also spoke on what “sexual confidence is…” and said: “Self-belief, it shines through. Oh, I forgot, a bit of St Tropez always helps!”
