Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have celebrated five years together as they prepare to become fathers for the first time.

The A-list couple, who are expecting their first son via a surrogate later this year, marked the fifth anniversary of their relationship with a romantic dinner in London.

Tom, 23, and Dustin, 43, shared pictures of their date at exclusive London restaurant Bob Bob Ricard on Instagram, with Black also paying tribute to his “best friend” in a separate post earlier in the day.

Sharing a cute throwback picture of himself and Tom on a bike ride the year they first got together, the Oscar-winning screenwriter wrote: “Here’s to FIVE YEARS of wild adventures & impossible dreams made true.”

Olympic diver Tom and filmmaker Dustin were introduced at a party in LA early 2013, and quickly embarked on a relationship away from the public eye.

Daley, who won bronze medals at both the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games, came out publicly later that year in a YouTube video in which he acknowledged the pair’s relationship for the first time.

After getting engaged in October 2015, the couple married in a gorgeous cremony at Devon’s Bovey Castle in May last year, and announced that they were set to become dads last month.

Speaking in an interview with Fearne Cotton last month, Tom and Dustin revealed that while they know the sex of the baby, they don’t know who the biological father is – something they hope to remain oblvious to for as long as possible.

“I know there’s been one question that lots of people have asking about, about who the biological father is,” Tom explained. “That’s something we’ve been very adamant about not knowing, or not ever wanting to know, because they are our children.”

Dustin added: “We did it in a way that we can not know for as long as we’d like to not know.”

Former Attitude cover star Tom, who says he and Dustin wanted a child “more than anything in the world”, explained that the couple want their baby’s surrogate to be involved in his life growing up.

“We’ve always said we’d be very open and honest with our child. If they ask questions and they want to know how they came into this world, you have to be very clear and share the experiences we’ve had,” he said.

“I’ve been writing down a diary of every single step that we’ve gone through so we can explain it to our child.

“Once the child is born, it’s up to the parents how much or how little the surrogate stays involved, but for us, we love her so much that I can’t imagine not ever seeing her again because we want her to be part the journey of the kids growing up too.”

Tom went on to explain that he and Dustin, who have both lost close family members to cancer in recent years, would invest everything into creating a loving home for their son.

“When I came out and told my mum and my family that I was in love with Lance and we were together, the first thing that always worried me was that I was never gonna be able to have children,” the former Attitude cover said.

“The thought of not being able to have children made me really sad. It made me think, what am I gonna do, I’ve always wanted a family. So that’s when we started to look into surrogacy.

“We’ve never been so sure about anything in our whole entire lives.”
