Tom Daley wins Commonwealth gold in 10m platform final

Tom Daley has won gold in the final of the men’s 10m platform event at the Commonwealth Games tonight (August 2).
Having led from the very first dive, the 20-year-old romped to victory with a six-rival total of 516.55, placing him over 80 marks ahead of his rivals.
Ooi Tze Liang of Malaysia collected the silver medal with a six-dive total of 433.70, while Canada’s Vincent Riendeau took the bronze with a total of 429.25.
Out gay Aussie diver Matthew Mitcham narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place.
This is the third Commonwealth gold of Daley’s career following the two he won at the Delhi games in 2010, one of which came in the same event, the men’s 10m platform.
Meanwhile, this is the second medal of the 2014 games in Glasgow for Daley, who is Attitude‘s current cover star. Last night (August 1) he and his Team England diving partner James Denny were pipped to silver by Australia’s Mitcham and Domonic Bedggood in the final of the men’s synchronised 10m platform event.
