Toronto is aiming to break the world record for the biggest mass gay wedding to celebrate World Pride.
200 couples are expected to tie the knot at the Canadian city’s historical landmark Casa Loma on June 26 as part of celebrations, CTV News reports.
Rio de Janeiro in Brazil currently holds the mass gay wedding record.
Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, New Thought, and Humanist officiants will carry out the ‘Grand Pride Weddings’, and there is no cost for the couples to marry, with flowers, photographers and tents provided.
Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly said: “The Casa is opening its doors and we are inviting all LGBTQ couples and two-spirited couples from across the Americas and around the world in love and commitment.”
World Pride 2014 will take place in Toronto from June 20-29.
