A trans woman has filed a complaint against a US restaurant after receiving a receipt that labelled her and her party “gay bitches”.

Amira Gray was dining with a group of eight friends at Bistro 18 in Washington last August when the incident occurred. When the group presented the receipt (pictured) to the restaurant’s manager, he reportedly snatched it out of their hands.

“When my friends and I saw the receipt, we were humiliated and embarrassed,” said Gray in her legal complaint.

“We went in planning to enjoy Bistro 18 just like everyone else in the hookah bar that evening, but it turned into a disturbing experience. I am standing up for my friends and me because I don’t think anyone should have to go through that.”

Gray’s legal complaint argues that the she and her friends were discriminated against based solely on “actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and sex in a place of public accommodation”.

Bistro 18 has yet to comment on the allegations.

Meanwhile, last month (May) a waitress approached a gay couple in a Texas restaurant as they were leaving and told them not to return.
