A transgender woman has died after she was beaten by a mob in India.
On Monday (July 22), a transgender woman was rushed to hospital after she was attacked and beaten by a mob in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal after claiming she was a ‘child-lifter’.
In horrifying footage, obtained by the Times Now News, the woman is seen lying on the ground covered in mud and blood.
Eye-witnesses says she was chased to a railway track and smashed her head with stones and berated her.
Young boys are seen kicking and beating her in the viral footage and no one offers to help her.
Police were finally alerted to the attack where she was rushed to hospital where she sadly passed away due to the injuries she sustained.
“We managed to rescue the victim but the person died on the way to the hospital,” said Debasish Chakraborty, Sub-Divisional Police Officer.
“No incident of child kidnapping has taken place. These are simply rumours spread by people.”
Six people have been arrested so far and further investigation is underway.
