Turkish trans rights activist raped and burned to death
By Darren Mew
Hande Kader was a trans rights activist and sex worker. She was found raped and burnt to death earlier this week.
On the 12th August Hande Kader’s body was found raped and burned in Istanbul. This crime has caused outrage among the activist community who are calling for justice for Kader and the wider effect it has had on the LGBT+ community.
The 22 year old activist was a big voice in Turkey for bringing awareness to the violence sex-workers faced and the LGBT+ community.
Even though homosexuality isn’t illegal in Turkey, Buzzfeed has reported that the discrimination and violence LGBT people face is high.
The murder of Kader comes two weeks after the murder of gay Syrian, Muhammad Wisam Sankari, who was found beheaded also in Istanbul.
Many people have taken to Twitter to demand justice. They have been using the hashtag #HandeKadereSesVer.

So sad how there are people that think beating, raping and burning someone to death is okay but being a trans isn’t?? #HandeKadereSesVer
