Two friends were allegedly kicked out a taxi because they are gay.
Joel Bautista and Michael Rios were travelling to their homes in Philadelphia back in March and when the taxi arrived the two friends got inside but after briefly discussing their love lives and Lasik surgery, the driver pulled over and order them to get out.
The driver allegedly said he didn’t want “that gay shit in my car”, but luckily Rios took a photo of the driver’s certificate before he drove away and they complained to the Philadelphia Parking Authority.
Within hours, the driver was asked to come in for an interview and his story shifted several times claiming the friends were talking “dirty” in his car and then claimed they propositioned him.
His last excuse was that they asked him to pull over early and then suggest they had refused to pay their fare.
The friends told the Philly Inquirer that they “didn’t want to interfere with his livelihood” and they “just wanted him to know that what he did was wrong”.
After hearing his lies, the friends decided to take the issue to court and an administrative hearing was on July 12.
The driver was fined $175 and had his driving certificate suspended for 30 days.
