Two women come forward in bleach attack investigation

The police are continuing to investigate a homophobic attack, which saw two gay men sprayed in the face with bleach in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 8).

Two women – who featured in CCTV images released by Scotland Yard following the incident – have now come forward, after an appeal for information, the London Evening Standard reports.

A 23-year-old man, and his 21-year-old friend, were attacked by a man (also seen in CCTV images) outside the Lightbox club in South Lambeth Place, Vauxhall.

Scotland Yard confirmed that the two women were not arrested after speaking to police.

The 23-year-old victim has been told he may lose his sight following the shocking attack. He explained: “The chemical burnt the cornea in my left eye and the vision hasn’t cleared since. The doctors said it should hopefully return but there is no guarantee.

“My friend’s tongue was swollen and it looked like someone had scratched part of it away. It was horrible.”

Officers from Lambeth Community Safety Unit are investigating and ask anyone who recognises the people in the images, or has information about the incidents, to contact them on 0208 649 2176 or 07909 906 168.
