Uruguayan actor Federico Díaz comes out as gay

Uruguayan actor and model Federico Díaz has come out as gay.

Diaz, who most recently starred in Mexican soap opera Como dice el dicho, used Twitter to speak candidly and at length about his sexuality on Thursday (May 1), the Latin Times reports.

“The day has come! Only God knows when and how. I only let myself be guided,” he wrote. “I feel that God has awarded me with homosexuality, the sensation of confusion that I had and the uncertainty throughout the years of knowing who I really am has been left behind.”

He continued: “Today I am starting to walk a new life, with no ties, no lies, no annoyances or pain, due to the fact that these feelings only depress and generate anguish in the heart. I came to this Earth to be HAPPY, to hug, to realize dreams, to take care of my loved ones and to leave a positive footprint in life.”

In February of this year it was reported in the Mexican press that Diaz was in a relationship with Ricky Martin – though Diaz has insisted there is no truth to this.

Diaz said on Twitter: “[They] published an article without any foundation and based on lies, with photos extracted from my personal Twitter and Instagram accounts, speculating and misinforming the public. It is confirming something that is far from the truth and with bad intention, and I truly don’t understand why.”
