US bill targets trans students who use the ‘wrong’ gender bathroom

By Josh Haggis

Kentucky’s Republican State Senator C.B. Embry has endorsed a bill that would chastise trans students for using the ‘wrong’ bathroom.

The bill would allow students who find their trans school mates using facilities of their chosen gender – rather than the one they were born with – to sue their school or college for up to $2500 for “physiological and emotional” damage.

“Students born male would be required to use only those facilities designated to be used by males and students born female to use only those facilities designated to be used by females,” states the bill.

Embry has explained that despite his endorsement, he has no issue with trans students dressing however they want to in schools.

“They’re certainly welcome to live their lives as they choose, if they want to dress as the opposite sex and the school is OK with that, that’s fine,” he said.

He went on to defend himself against claims that he’s a bigot, telling US News: “I have a friend, and we can all say these things, who is a homosexual and she agrees that she doesn’t want men in her bathroom.”
