US politician: ‘Put gay and straight couples on an island and see who survives’
By Ben Kelly
Texas representative Louie Gohmert’s idea of a Congress study is to put gay, lesbian and straight couples on separate islands to see who survives, reports Right Wing Watch.
The Republican was speaking at Liberty University, a private Christian uni, where he proposed a study to prove that homosexuality is unnatural.
“Let’s just take a totally secular approach to this,” Gohmert said. “Congress is good about having studies.
“How about if we take four heterosexual couples and put them on an island where they have everything they need to live and exist and we take four couples of just men and put them on an island where they have all they need to survive and then let’s take four couples of just women and put them on an island and then let’s come back in 100 years and see which one nature favours?”
Gohmert has made this completely idiotic pitch before, noted Right Wing Watch.
Here’s a better idea: How about we banish this homophobe to a desert island and see if nature favours him?
