The pair, Brian Mosteller and Joseph Mahshie, who act as special assistant to President Obama and trip coordinator to First Lady Michelle Obama respectively, were wed at Biden’s official residence in Washington, D.C.
The Vice President tweeted a photo of the pair exchanging their nuptials, describing the couple as “two good guys”, and adding that he was “proud” to be involved.

According to the IB Times, Biden helped convince President Obama to publicly support marriage equality – which was a significant political risk, considering the sizeable opposition to equal marriage in the States.
Joe Biden has been a vocal supporter of LGBT equality and spoke out against workplace discrimination at a rally celebrating equal marriage last year. At the event, he commented that “there are still 32 states where marriage can be recognized in the morning and you can be fired [for being LGBT] in the afternoon”.
