Wagamama will donate to LGBT+ causes every time there’s a rainbow in London, Brighton and Manchester for the next year

Wagamama has chosen an amazing way to support Pride this year.
To celebrate this year, the popular Pan-Asian restaurant announced earlier this year that whenever a rainbow is spotted in London, its Soho-based location will donate all profits from bun sales that day. After the pledge became a huge success, the #makeitrainbow subsequently rolled out in Brighton Pride, and now it’s making its way to Manchester this weekend.
With the restaurant selling over 1,000,000 buns every year, that’s a lot of money potentially going toward LGBT+ causes.
In the unlikely event it doesn’t rain for the next year – as if – he chain is committed to donating a minimum of £2,500 to George House Trust, aiding its important work to support people living with HIV.
The brand are calling on Manchester residents to help spot and share the rainbow to unlock the donation by tweeting #makeitrainbow, with a picture of the rainbow.
Head of Marketing at wagamama, Andre Johnstone said: “wagamama has always supported its staff when it comes to Pride across the UK but we have wanted to do more publicly to support the LGBT+ community in previous years.”
Regular Giving Manager at George House Trust, Leroy Williamson went on to add: “George House Trust are over the moon to be working with wagamama on this fun engaging campaign. We rely on the financial support of businesses and our local community to enable us to provide a much needed service here in Manchester and the North West. The money raised by wagamama will go towards our welfare fund and counselling service to support people who are living with HIV.
I think this 12-month campaign really shows an understanding and a commitment to equality. Manchester is a wonderful place and I’m positive everybody will come together for lots of fun with rainbows.”
