Watch: Friends help man propose with amazing flash mob
By Will Stroude
An Italian couple are going viral after a video of their extravagant engagement was posted online earlier this month.
Unsuspecting glassware designer Matteo, from Bologna, was invited to a ‘work conference’ by his parents, not knowing they were in cahoots with his partner of five years, Alberto, who proceeded to pull off a lavish flash-mob before getting down on one knee.
Despite gay couples not yet being able to marry in Italy, copywriter Alberto decided to propose and worry about the details later, according to Gay Star News.
Fittingly, he dressed as a pilot to pop the question, with many of his friends and colleagues dance around him dressed as cabin crew before holding up signs that say – in Italian – ‘Are you ready to land your dream?’. The bouncy routine is all set to ‘Marry You’ by Bruno Mars.
A red carpet is rolled out and he pulls out a ring as shell-shocked Matteo looks on emotionally. Fortunately it quickly becomes evident that the reply is a resounding ‘si’, as the couple embrace and their friends jump in for a teary group hug.
Alberto said after that the couple intend to marry in Portugal in 2016. He said: “The problem is that we have many friends and family we’d like to take with us, some of whom are over 70, and it might be difficult to take them all on a flight.”
We’re sure that they’ll figure it out though… at least, if Alberto’s pilot get up is anything to go by.
