Watch: Gay men protest gay blood ban with ‘Bad Blood’ parody
By Will Stroude
An amazing new parody video is drawing attention to current regulations in the US restricting blood donations from gay men.
Last month, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a new report calling for an end to the lifetime ban on men who’ve had sex with men from donating blood, and instead replacing it with ban on guys who’ve had sex with a man in the 12 months prior, like the current policy in the UK.
Entitled ‘Sad Studs’, the song and video from US comedians Jake Wilson and Jeffrey Self parody Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood, highlighting the absurdity of the policy as a man tries to avoid having sex with guys such as ‘Pup’, ‘Uncut’ and ‘Threesome’ for a year so that he can donate.
We think it’s pretty incredible… and not only because of the amazing cameo from The Comeback’s Robert Michael Morris – aka Valerie Cherish’s iconic stylist Mickey – as ‘The Queen’.
