Watch Michael Sam kiss boyfriend as he’s drafted into NFL

A video of out gay American football player Michael Sam discovering he’s been drafted into The National Football League (NFL) has been released online – watch it below.

The 24-year-old athlete broke down in tears as he was told over the phone yesterday (May 10) that the St. Louis Rams had selected him for their team – and then kissed his boyfriend to celebrate the life-changing news.

Sam’s selection makes him only the second out gay athlete to compete in any of North America’s four major professional sports leagues – football, baseball, basketball and hockey – after basketball player Jason Collins was selected for the NBA earlier this year.

The Texan-born player took the sports world by storm in February when he came out after completing his college football career – and later launched his own range of ‘Stand with Sam’ and #SamStrong merchandise.
