Watch this 6-year-old’s inspiring reaction to her father’s transition

A heartwarming video shows the moment a 6 year-old girl learns her father is transitioning to become female.
The video, shared by the Layla’s mother Shalee Olivia Ellis, was shared friends asked her how the child was reacting to the transition.
“I have been asked several times about how Layla responded to being told about her dad being transgender,” the Pennsylvania woman wrote. “I turned my camera on half way through the conversation, and this is what ensued. #unconditionallove #transgender #hatredistaught”
In the video, Layla asks, “Daddy’s a she now?”
“That’s right,” Shalee says. “How does that make you feel?”
“It feels good,” the girl replies.

Shalee is then seen explaining, “I actually really feel happy like a girl, and I’m going to stay as a girl, but daddy doesn’t feel happy as a boy, so we have decided to help daddy become the person that his brain and his heart says he really is.”
She adds, “You know that daddy’s still gonna be the same person and still gonna be your daddy forever.”
Layla appears entirely unfazed by the whole thing, and even gives the thumbs up for her dad’s new name, Mallory.
She then adds, “Daddy I love you so much, even though you’re a her, I still love you.”
Speaking to BuzzFeed, Shalee said:“As soon as I started talking, her reaction was so incredibly mature and impressive. I instinctively had a mom moment and hit the record button to see if I could capture a tender moment to send to my wife, Mallory.”
