Watch Tori Amos cover Conchita’s ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’

Tori Amos covered Conchita Wurst’s Rise Like A Phoenix at a show in the bearded drag queen’s home country, Austria, on Saturday night (May 7).

The singer was performing at the Opera House in Lintz when she surprised the crowd with a rendition of Wurst’s winning Eurovision power ballad.

This isn’t the first time that Amos has performed a surprise cover during her tour. At a recent gig in Amsterdam, she sang a stripped down version Madonna’s iconic 1998 ballad Frozen. 

Now, in another fan-recorded video, Amos can be seen sat at the piano before launching into Wurst’s uplifting anthem. The gig-goer recording the video becomes quite emotional as Amos’s performance progresses and screams, “Thank you Tori!” at the end of the clip.

Amos, 50, is currently touring Europe in support of her most recent album, Unrepentant Geraldines, which reached number 13 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart last month (May).

Conchita Wurst’s Rise Like A Phoenix grabbed first place at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark, racking up 290 points and marking Austria’s first win in the competition since 1966.
