Watch what happened when a 30-stone man entered Mr Gay UK
By Sam Rigby
Could a man who weighs 30-stone ever win Mr Gay UK?
Well, Stavros Louca decided to try and answer that question by taking part in the annual competition’s London heat.
After being continually bullied about his size, and struggling to find a boyfriend, Stavros decided it was a good opportunity to put himself out there and potentially meet ‘the one’.
Appearing on stage at The Black Cap in Camden, the crowd embraced Stavros and he was crowned the winner of the heat – but unfortunately that isn’t the end of the story.
Watch The Guardian‘s short documentary about Stavros’s experience taking part in Mr Gay UK here.
Current Mr Gay UK and Mr Gay World, Stuart Hatton, has condemned organisers for their “shameful” treatment of Stavros, and has offered to meet up with him for a photoshoot:
@guardian @guardianvideo Hi. I’m the current @MrGayUK and #mrgayworld. I’d love to meet Stavros have a chat & photo shoot with him. #proud

So angry about the @MrGayUK shambles. Sometimes gay community we’re our own worst enemy.
