Watch what happens when this gay couple hold hands at a soccer match

The Portuguese gay couple who previously posted a video showing public reactions to them walking the streets holding hands are back again – and this time, they’re trying their luck at a soccer stadium.

Similar experiments in Kiev, Jerusalem and Russia resulted in open hostility and even physical violence against the couples in question – but same-sex couple Pedro and Lorenzo had an altogether more positive experience when filming their first video last month in Portugal’s capital of Lisbon.

In their new video, they address the criticisms of some viewers, who suggested that they’d be hard pressed to find the same level of tolerance if they stepped outside of Lisbon’s relatively urban setting.

“The most frequent comment that we received was that if we did this experiment again in the north of Portugal, the reactions might be a little different. We were even told there was a chance we would be killed if we attended a game at the Oporto soccer stadium. So of course, we immediately accepted the challenge.”
