Will Young claims he experienced ‘homophobic abuse’ from London bus driver

The 38-year-old singer is trying to track the driver down

Will Young has pleaded London mayor Sadiq Khan for help after claiming he faced homophobic abuse on a London bus.

The 38-year-old singer, who was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, was allegedly called a “poofter” by a bus driver in London.

Young is trying to track the driver down and took to Twitter today (January 5) to open up about the incident.

He wrote: “Homophobic abuse from a tfl bus driver calling me a poofter. Reported it ten minutes after it happened and TfL have been amazing.

“However bus companies on route say video footage gone as too late – quite how someone complains and actually GETS footage I am unsure.”

A follow-up tweet read: “TfL doing everything they can but I am appealing to @Tfl @SadiqKhan to help me find the driver to ensure he doesn’t abuse others – PLEASE DM me”.

The TFL Twitter account soon responded to Young’s complaint and assured him they’ll be taking action.

The tweet read: “Hi Will, I am so sorry to see this. I’ve also just seen the previous tweet on your feed and I want to ensure we take action straight away.

“The behaviour you described is unacceptable. I am just going to send you a PM to get a few more details from you. Speak to you shortly, Andy.”

Just last month the ‘Jealousy’ singer opened up on his struggle with mental health and revealed that he sometimes struggles to leave his home due to PTSD.

He’s also been open about facing homophobic abuse during his rise to fame and revealed he was once threatened with a knife simply because of his sexuality.
