Woman accused of forcing man to rape another man who owed her money

A woman is accused of asking a man to sexually assault another man who owed her money for alcohol and marijuana.
Julia Haworth, 30, from Alaska, told an acquittance to carry out the assault in April 2017 in exchange for “a bottle”, according to documents filed by the Nome District Attorney’s office.
The man accused of the assault is Austin Matthias, 24, who is also from the St Michael area of Alaska.
According to the victim, the last thing he remembered was Matthias punching him in the face and woke up severe pain.
An exam revealed extensive trauma including a broken nose.
Tom Jamgochian, Nome Assistant District Attorney, said a contracted sexual assault like this case is “unique”.
According to the Anchorage Daily, he said: “I’ve never seen or heard of a case like this before. It is unique.”
Last June, Matthias was indicted on two felony counts of first-degree sexual assault and Haworth was indicted on a count of solicitation of sexual assault as well as a count of first-degree sexual assault.
A witness told the case that he saw the sexual assault happen in the victim’s home and said Haworth let Matthias and the victim get drunk.
Haworth then told Matthias: “Austin I’m going to need you to rape” the victim with Matthias replying “sure”.
According to the witness, Haworth said the victim owed her $15,000.
The next hearing is set for May 17 and both Haworth and Matthias remain in jail.
