A woman has been arrested after allegedly throwing flaming hand sanitiser at her girlfriend during a domestic violence altercation.
Destiny Waite, 28, allegedly threw a flaming bottle of hand sanitiser at her girlfriend which caught the entire Connecticut apartment building on fire.
As the flames burst through the building, dozens had to be rescued and the blaze tragically left one man dead and at least four people were sent to hospital with critical injuries.
More than 75 firefighters were called to the apartment where they rescued around 40 residents who were reportedly clinging to window sills to avoid smoke and flames, NBC Connecticut reported.
Waite was then arrested hours after the fire and is facing felony charges of murder, arson and four counts of first-degree assault for the people who were sent to hospital.
According to her attorney, she wasn’t at the scene during the fire and hadn’t been there for days.
Waite claims her girlfriend caused the injuries to herself and blamed her.
Waite was held on a $1 million bond following a court appearance Monday (March 9).
