Woman behind ‘Fagbug’ gay pride car was attacked by a man in post office

By Fabio Crispim

A woman who had turned her vandalised Volkswagen Beetle into a symbol of gay pride was attacked by a man in line at a Syracuse post office.

According to the Syracuse.com Erin Davies, 38, was travelling across the country with her car and when she was at a post office in New York, a man named Casey White entered and spat on the floor loudly near Davies.

A police report states that an employee of the post office approached White and asked him if he had spat on the floor. He said, “No. I spit at this bitch.”

Davies asked White why he was being aggressive towards her and, in the police report, accused him of pushing her. Post office employees asked White to leave the building.

Taking to Facebook post, Davies wrote that she was shocked when he said that. She also explains in the Facebook post that White had said he would be waiting outside and would beat her up.

She writes, “I was very confused, I did not have one interaction with this person.”

“Then he broke free and started charging toward me telling me he was going to kill me, fist in hand.”

She explains how she had nowhere to go and jumped over the counter but soon after, White was arrested by the police.

While being arrested, White said, “Who drives a Fagbug on Salina Street, I don’t understand why you drive that car?”

The car was vandalised when someone spray-painted the words, ‘fag’ and ‘u r Gay’ in 2007. Davies decided to leave it there and tour the country to talk people about the message the car had. She released a documentary called, Fagbug, in 2009.

In the Facebook post, she said, “After 9 years of doing Fagbug, I took comfort in the fact that no one ever attacked me physically. I went to all 50 states and never had that happen.”
