Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless has attacked her old colleague Kevin Sorbo, who played Hercules, for sharing a Captiol riots conspiracy theory.
Lawless spoke out following scenes of violence in Washington DC this week, which saw thousands of Donald Trump supporters descend on the meeting place of US Congress on Wednesday.
At least five are dead after a face-off with police.
“Do these look like Trump supporters? Or Leftist agitators disguised as Trump supporters…”
That same day, Trump supporter Sorbo – who played Hercules across various 90s TV movies and shows – shared a picture of rioters posted by Twitter user Rogan O’Handley (DC_Draino), who also said: “Do these look like Trump supporters? Or Leftist agitators disguised as Trump supporters…”
Sorbo added in his retweet: “They don’t look like patriots to me…”
The post has been flagged by Twitter as manipulated media.
No, Peanut. They are not Patriots. They are your flying monkeys, homegrown terrorists, QAnon actors. They are the douchebags that go out and do the evil bidding of people like you who like to wind them up like toys and let them do their worst. #keepingYourFilthyHandsclean #enabler

Lawless, who played lesbian icon Xena in 1995, later replied to Sorbo saying: “No, Peanut. They are not Patriots. They are your flying monkeys, homegrown terrorists, QAnon actors. They are the douchebags that go out and do the evil bidding of people like you who like to wind them up like toys and let them do their worst. #keepingYourFilthyHandsclean #enabler.”
The same day, Sorbo tweeted “history is being made“, adding: “If you didn’t condemn the BLM and antifa riots when they were happening, your opinion on this riot isn’t needed. Thank you.”
He also tweeted: “To all the people who actually believe that it was Trump supporters who started the riot today: Where was antifa and BLM to counter? They show up to every single event, so why not this one?”
Sorbo’s comments follow reports that Britney Spears’ ex-husband Jason Allen Alexander attended the riot.
Video footage also shows Pride flags being waved among the crowds.
The chaos was instigated by a speech from Trump in which he encouraged supporters to overturn his defeat by Joe Biden in last November’s presidential election.
After the interruption, US Congress certified Democrat Biden’s victory; he will now be sworn in on 20 January.
