Attitude Style Guide: How to dress for festivals
By Will Stroude
Another weekend in July means another batch of festivals starting this Friday (July 4). With so many to choose from, including Wireless (Kanye West, Iggy Iggs), High Definition (Gorgon City, Route 94) and Hop Farm (Sophie-Ellis Bextor, Eliza Doolitle) to name but a few, you’re gonna be spoilt for choice.
Luckily, Attitude’s fashion team has put together three looks to keep you looking stylish and on-trend whether it rains or shines. And to be honest, if last weekend is anything to go by then chances are it’s going to rain – a lot!
Now we’ve all recovered from Pride in London last weekend it’s time to replace the thigh-skimming shorts and barely-there vests with longer chino shorts, white T-shirts, wellies and boots.
Look 1:
Just because Pride is over doesn’t mean you have to stop showing just how colourful you are. We’ve selected a bright and bold outfit that will work at all festivals: keep accessories to a minimum (you’ll just lose them jumping up and down in the front row anyway) and wear a statement T-shirt to make you stand out from the crowd.
1. Hunter wellies, £55 at hunter-boot.com 2. T-shirt by Katie Eary, £107.50 at mrporter.com 3. Denim shorts by River Island, £28 at riverisland.com 4. Bracelets by BooHoo, £5 at boohoo.com
Look 2:
Staying colourful, but this time a little more understated, keep those layers on-trend and flexible by wrapping your shirt around your waist and make your outfit pop with a colourful (and waterproof!) watch.
1. Watch by Storm, £44.99 at stormwatches.com 2. Chino shorts by Lyle & Scott, £41 at lyleandscott.com 3. T-shirt by Luke 1977, £35 at luke1977.com 4. Lumbershack shirt by Superdry, £44.99 at superdry.com 5. Boots by CAT, £60 at catfootwear.com
Look 3:
There’s no excuse not to look your best when it’s pouring with rain, so we’ve selected two of our favourite waterproof jackets that will pretty much go with everything. You also need to think about what’s going to go into your printed festival backpack – we suggest a plain white shirt (in case of mud or drink spillages) and plain black trainers that can easily be put in the bottom of your bag when you don’t need them.
1.Raincoat by Nike, £220 at store.nike.com 2. Backpack by Eastpak, £50 at eastpak.com 3. White t-shirt by The White T-Shirt, £35 at thewhitetshirt.com 4. High-top trainers by Superdry, £44.99 at superdry.com 5. Raincoat by Topman, £70 at topman.com
