Check out all the highlights from Tel Aviv Pride
Pride season well and truly got underway this weekend with Israel’s Tel Aviv Pride. The Middle East’s largest gay pride parade had over 200,000 partakers with, ambassadors Alan Cumming and Orange is the New Black’s Lea DeLaria leading proceedings during Friday’s march
The parades main theme this year was “Women for a Change” which showed off the importance of women within the LGBT community. Starting at 10am at the Tel Aviv Gay Community Centre, there were speeches, shows and music. After which, was the parade and beach party that went on until sunset.
Ron Huldai, the mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, opened the celebrations with a speech saying: “We have been marching for some years now, and we will keep on marching in pursue of equality.
“We will keep marching these streets of Tel Aviv with the hope that the pluralism, tolerance and liberalism of this city, will spread to the country, the Middle East and the world.”
Tel Aviv Pride is the only one fully sponsored by the local government.
Alan Cumming said that “coming to Tel Aviv as a very proud Pride ambassador is the best way I can imagine.”
Meanwhile, Lea DeLaria said she was “honored and excited to be a Pride Ambassador for Tel Aviv Pride. Jewish girls are hot!”

As Tel Aviv was crowned the Best Gay City in the world by GayCities.com back in 2011, the city has allocated a yearly investment of $1 million into supporting and promoting the gay community. It estimates over 35,000 tourists to arrive at the city to take part in its pride events.
