Exclusive | Carly Rae Jepsen to perform at Brighton Pride 2016
By Will Stroude
International pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen is set to perform at this year’s Brighton Pride festival, Attitude can exclusively reveal.
The global superstar, whose breakthrough hit Call Me Maybe propelled her to worldwide fame in 2012, will play at the UK’s biggest Pride festival in Preston Park on Saturday, August 6, capping a day of incredible live performance from the likes of Fleur East, DJ Fresh, Rudimental vocalist Anne-Marie.
Jepsen’s appearance in Brighton marks a rare chance to see the two-time Grammy nominee live in the UK, and pride-goers will be singing their heart out to hits from the 30-year-old’s critically-acclaimed third studio album E·MO·TION, which includes bona fide pop gems like ‘Run Away with Me’, ‘Boy Problems’ and hit single ‘I Really Like You’.
Joining the Main Stage line-up on Saturday will also be pop star and Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon. The fiesty British songstress boasts and impressive fourteen UK Top 20 hits from both her time in Mis-Teeq and as a solo artist, and made a long-overdue musical comeback with last year’s fourth studio album Do It For Love.
Tickets are already available to see Carly and Alesha at this year’s Brighton Pride festival, which takes place over the weekend of August 5th-7th.
With over 290,000 people participating in last year’s event, 2016 looks set to be bigger and better than ever before, with the Pride Community Parade set to host its own ‘Carnival Of Diversity’, with a campaigning theme of ‘Uniting Nations’ to reflect Pride’s on-going commitment to global LGBT+ rights.
“Pride has evolved over the years with more communities coming together to celebrate every aspect of our city, regardless of sexuality, race, gender, age or ability,” says a festival spokesperson.
“It’s important not to go back to themes that trivialise the important message behind the Pride Celebration and to highlight the lives and struggles of LGBT+ people across the world as we strive for equality for all.”
Tickets for Brighton Pride 2016 (August 5-7) are now available here. For more information visit brighton-pride.org.
