Glasto’s dance destination set for biggest party yet
Block9, Glastonbury Festival’s legendary dance destination, is throwing the gates open early in 2015 for its biggest line up ever – including performances by Jah Shaka, Joe Clausell, Andy Butler of Hercules & Love Affair, and disco legend Cerrone.
The superstar producer, drummer, composer, multi-award winner and disco legend extraordinaire will make his Glasto debut at Block 9. Considered to be one of the most influential disco producers of the 70s and 80s in Europe, Cerrone has sold over 30 million records worldwide, including over eight million copies of his hit album Supernature (1977).
Considered to be one of the most influential disco producers of the 70s and 80s, Cerrone will be making his Glastonbury debut live at Block9’s official opening party at Genosys, on Thursday 25th June at 21:30, for what promises to be Glastonbury’s biggest opening event.
Traditionally opening when night falls, this year Block9 will be throwing open the gates early at 4pm every day from Friday onwards, so they can squeeze 12 more hours of dance talent into their best-ever line up.
A 24-hour wonderland of heavyweight sound systems, underground nightclubs, huge artworks and extremely alternative performance, Block9 is the go-to field for those in the know with three separate and jaw-dropping parties featuring a stellar array of talent: Genosys, NYC Downlow and London Underground. Here are the details on each:
GENOSYS
The Genosys outdoor arena explores the birth of electronic dance music and its lasting legacy. A 50ft, audiovisual hybrid that blurs the boundaries between art, video and music, Genosys celebrates the pre-digital dance floor. Originally conceived and designed by Block9 for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, this summer Genosys once again forms the centrepiece for Glastonbury Festival’s nightlife in the Block9 field. Watch out for the following acts at Genosys this year:
CERRONE
PHUTURE (LIVE)
AWESOME TAPES FROM AFRICA
ROBERT HOOD
PROSUMER
GIDEON
MR G (LIVE)
SVEN VON THÜLEN
KON
EROL ALKAN
THE CARRY NATION

NYC DOWNLOW
Celebrating nine years of mayhem, Block9’s legendary NYC Downlow returns in 2015 with the finest disco, soul, funk and vintage acid house all night, every night.
In this film-set replica of a ruined NYC tenement, the murky homo fantasies of The Downlow crew fuse to resurrect New York’s golden age. Buy a false moustache at the porn kiosk (proceeds go to charity), and make your way down a seedy back alley into a vintage New York club for gay, straight and curious clubbers.
NYC Downlow is host to over 60 pan-sexual performers and the UK’s finest alternative cabaret stars; leave your partner in your tent and join them if you dare for a gender-bending, mind mashing, alternative night of dance-fuelled hedonism.Highlights this year at NYC Downlow include:

ANDY BUTLER (HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR)
DJ PIERRE
POINT G
HONEY DIJON

LONDON UNDERGROUND
The mighty London Underground is an unmissable highlight of late-night Glastonbury. A sinister, decaying tower block with a life-size, blazing tube train bursting from the fifth floor, this towering nightclub venue showcases the cream of London’s sound-system underground.
More than just a music venue, the London Underground lobby also plays host to a dubious gang of characters from the Roundhouse Theatre. Watch out for following legends this year:
JAH SHAKA
YOUNGSTA
FABIO
NICKY BLACKMARKET
2 BAD MICE
DJ FLIGHT
MARCUS INTALEX
